Inspected
tobacco may
be stored out.

LAWS OF MARYLAND.
SEC. 48. Whenever so large an amount of in-
spected tobacco shall have accumulated in any one
warehouse as necessarily delay the inspections, and
all other warehouses are equally full, the lessee of
such warehouse shall at his cost and charge, remove
and store out of his warehouse, so much of the
same as may be necessary to give room for the un-
inspected tobacco.

SEC. 49. Every hogshead of tobacco that shall
remain in any warehouse after being sold by the
grower, for a period longer than six months, the
lessee of such warehouse may charge the owner
therefor, the sum of fifteen cents per month, for
every month after the said six months.

Wharf.
|
SEC. 50. In the absence of the wharfinger, the
lessee of each warehouse shall have charge and
control of the wharf in front of his warehouse, so
far as relates to the landing of wood or other ma-
terials, to the exclusion of tobacco, and any master
or owner of any vessel lying at a wharf in front of
such warehouse, not having tobacco on deck, who
shall refuse to remove his vessel upon the request
of such lessee or "his clerk, in order that a vessel
having tobacco on board may have the privilege of
landing the same, shall pay a fine of not less than
five nor more than twenty dollars, to be recovered
before any justice of the peace for said city, for the
use of the tobacco fund.

appointed as

SEC. 51. In case of the absence, sickness or any other
disability of the inspector of any warehouse, the com-
missioners shall appoint any one of the clerks of the
lessee of said warehouse, to act as inspector, until his
return, recovery or removal of the disability, and the
person so appointed shall qualify under oath as all
other appointees, and shall receive for the time he
is so employed, such compensation as the commis-
sioners shall determine, not exceeding in proportion
the salary of the inspector; and if such absence on
the part of the inspector be wilful, and be so certi-
fied by the commissioners to the Comptroller, such
proportionate compensation to the said clerk, shall
be paid out of the salary of the inspector so wil-
fully absenting himself.

Quorum.
|
SEC. 52. A majority of the tobacco commissioners
shall be a quorum for the transaction of business,
and any vacancy in their number during the recess
|
