CHAP. 225

Removal of
inspection.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That so soon as the
said warehouse or warehouses shall be ready for
the reception of tobacco for inspection, it shall be
the duty of the inspectors of tobacco to remove and
carry on the inspection in the said new warehouse
or warehouses, and to remove thereto all the to-
bacco remaining in the present tobacco warehouses
for inspection or storage.

used until the
completion of
new ones.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That until the said
new warehouse or warehouses shall be completed
and ready for use, the existing State warehouses
shall be used and occupied by the State as hereto-
fore, and all contracts made for the sale or ex-
change thereof, or of any of them, by the said com-
missioners, shall be subject to the right of the State
to use and occupy them until the completion of the
warehouse or warehouses hereby authorised to be
built.

Deeds, &c.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the said com-
missioners shall have power to make and execute
all deeds and conveyances necessary for the execu-
tion of this law, and for the discharge of the duties
hereby devolved upon them, and shall receive such

compensation as the Legislature may allow, not
exceeding four dollars per day while actually en-
gaged in their duties aforesaid, for each of them, to
be paid out of the proceeds of the sales of the ex-
isting warehouses, and a majority of said commis-
sioners shall be a quorum competent to do any of-
ficial act.

Surplus.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That if there be any
surplus of the proceeds of the sales of the said to-
bacco warehouses, after defraying the cost of erect-
ing said new warehouse or warehouses, and the ex-
penses attendant thereupon, as provided by this
bill, the said surplus shall be paid into the trea-
sury, to be credited to the tobacco fund.

In force.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.
