CHAPTER 220.

AN ACT entitled; An act to add the following sec-
tions, relating to the alms-house of Montgomery
county, article fifteen of the Code of Public Lo-
cal Laws.
|
|
|
Per diem.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That each trustee of the alms-house
of Montgomery county shall be entitled to three
dollars a day for each day he shall attend to the
duties of his office, and five cents for every mile he
shall necessarily travel from his place of residence
to their place of meeting, but no mileage in return-
ing.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from and after its passage.

AN ACT to amend an act entitled, An act to in-
corporate the Manchester Savings' Institution.
|
|
|
Power to
issue bank
notes.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That as soon as a majority in interest
of the stockholders of the Manchester Savings' In-
stitution shall file with the president of said insti-
tution their assent to the provisions of this act, the
said Manchester Savings' Institution shall have
power to issue bank-notes to the extent and subject
to the limitation, restrictions and taxation for the

use of the school fund; Provided, in the act entitled,
an act to continue the corporate existence of the
several banking institutions therein mentioned,
passed at January session, eighteen hundred and
fifty-three, chapter four hundred and forty-one, and
the act entitled 5 an act to repeal so much of the act
of eighteen hundred and fifty-three, chapter four
hundred and forty-one, as regards the issue of bank
notes by the several banking corporations in this
State, to the amount of capital actually paid in,
passed at the January session, eighteen hundred
and fifty-four, chapter one hundred and fifty-two.
