to the said officers and servants as aforesaid a suffi-
cient account of themselves, and in making such
arrests, and in all proceedings in relation thereto,
the said officers and servants of the company afore-
said shall pursue the forms and remedies prescribed
by the General Assembly of Maryland, in the act
passed at the April session, of the year seventeen
hundred and fifteen, chapter forty-four, entitled, an
act relating to servants and slaves, saving and ex-
cepting only that it shall be lawful for said officers
and servants making said arrests to carry the said
colored persons, arrested as aforesaid, before any
justice of the peace of the State of Maryland.

CHAP. 120.

SEC. 2 And be it further enacted, That, for the
better security of life and property on the line of
said Baltimore and Ohio railroad, and on the
branches thereof and at the depots, shops and ware-
houses thereof, it shall and may be lawful for the
president of the said company, for the time being,
to designate and appoint such person as he may
deem necessary to act as road policeman, and such
persons so by him appointed shall have on the line
of the said railroad and on the branches thereof,
and at the depots, shops and warehouses thereof,
within the State of Maryland, all the police powers
which are by the common law devolved upon con-
stables within this State.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

AN ACT to authorise the Comptroller to adjust
the accounts of Philip G. Love, Collector for the
State taxes for the fourth and fifth election dis-
tricts of St. Mary's county, for the year of eigh-
teen hundred and fifty-nine, and to allow as
credits on the same all sums of money for which
the State's attorney has receipted.
