AN ACT for the relief of the Trustees of the Poor-
house for Montgomery county.
|
|
|
Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, it has been made to appear to this Gene-
ral Assembly, by the petition of the trustees of
the poorhouse for Montgomery county, that the
said trustees are justly indebted to William
Granger, in the sum of seven hundred dollars,
with interest, from the fourth day of August, in
the year eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, which
said trustees have no means of paying, on ac-
count of the failure of the sheriff, in whose hands
the county levy for their use was placed, and
their inability to collect said money from said
sheriff, therefore,

Levy.
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the county commissioners for Montgom-
ery county be, and they are hereby authorised and
directed to levy for the use of William Granger, at
the time of their making of the next annual levy
for county purposes, the sum of seven hundred dol-
lars, with interest, from the fourth day of August,
in the year eighteen hundred and fifty-seven, on
the assessable property of said county to pay and
satisfy said claim of said Granger.

AN ACT to amend the act of eighteen hundred
and twenty-six, chapter one hundred and twen-
ty-three, entitled, an Act to Incorporate the Bal-
timore and Ohio Railroad Company.

passes may be
arrested.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the officers and servants of the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company shall have
the right to arrest any colored persons whom they
shall find on the line of the said railroad, within
the State of Maryland, when such persons are on
railroad without a legal pass, or are unable to give
