486 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
WHEREAS, the Department of Geology, Mines and Water
Resources has made a study of "Shore Erosion in Tidewater
Maryland" indicating that Maryland has lost approximately
30,000 acres in tidewater erosion during the past ninety
years; and
WHEREAS, erosion has destroyed a part of Blackiston
Island, originally St. Clement's Island, the landing place of
the colonists of Marjdand; and
WHEREAS, the fence around the monument erected on the
island by the State of Maryland in. commemoration of the
original landing place of the colonists is now only about one
hundred feet from the shore line; and
WHEREAS, erosion conditions on Blackiston Island are be-
coming more serious; now therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Chief Engineer of the Department of Public Improvements
be and he is hereby requested to make a survey of Blackiston
Island for the purpose of determining what, if anything,
should be done to prevent further erosion and to submit a
report to the Governor containing any recommendations as
to what should be done and what agency or agencies of the
State should undertake the work of controlling or prevent-
ing further erosion on said Blackiston Island.

Joint Resolution to continue the Commission to study
the General Corporation Laws.
WHEREAS, the general corporation ]aws of Maryland have
been amended from time to time but have not been revised
in their entirety since 1908; and
WHEREAS, the General Assembly requested such a revision
in Joint Resolution No. 20 passed at the 1947 Regular Ses-
sion, this Resolution requesting the Governor to appoint a
Commission to study and revise the corporation laws; and
