Roads," said new section to be known as Section 83A, to
follow immediately after Section 83 of said Article, to
be under the sub-title "Bridges," and under the new sub-
heading "Severn River Bridge," relating to the use and
maintenance of the bridge across the Severn River giv-
ing access to the City of Annapolis as part of State
Route No. 2 or the Ritchie Highway.
SECTIONl. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition),
title "State Roads," said new section to be known as Sec-
tion 83A, to follow immediately after Section 83 of said
Article, to be under the sub-title "Bridges/' and under the
new sub-heading "Severn River Bridge," and to read as
follows:
Severn River Bridge
83A. The bridge currently existing and in use across
the Severn River, giving access for vehicular traffic to
the City of Annapolis, as part of State Route No. 2 or the
Ritchie Highway, shall remain open and be maintained
in good condition for such vehicular traffic until the Gen-
eral Assembly shall determine otherwise. No officer or
agency of the State shall give any order or directive to
close or restrict the use of such bridge to the general pub-
lic, without the prior consent of the General Assembly, nor
shall he or it fail to provide for the maintenance of said
bridge in reasonably good condition for public use, without
the prior consent of the General Assembly. No officer or
agency of the State shall sell, lease or in any manner con-
vey any of the State's title and interest in such bridge to
the United States, or to any department or agency there-
of, or to any person, association or corporation, as grantee,
in such manner as to give to such grantee the right to close
said bridge to the use of the general public, or the right
to fail to maintain it in reasonably good condition for pub-
lic use, without the prior consent of the General Assembly.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1950.
