and opposite the words "Against Motion Pictures on Sunday",
so that the said voters shall be able to designate by a cross
mark in the proper square or box his or her decision for or
against motion pictures on Sunday.
If a majority of the votes cast at said election in the Town
of Mt. Airy on said question shall be "For Motion Pictures
on Sunday", then Sections 1 and 2 of this Act shall auto-
matically become effective in said town. If a majority of the
votes cast in said town on said question shall be "Against
Motion Pictures on Sunday", then Sections 1 and 2 of this
Act shall not become effective in said town.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

(Senate Bill 42)
AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Cecil and Harford Counties to levy and pay an additional
sum to certain teachers of Cecil and Harford Counties who
have been retired on pension.
WHEREAS, some of the teachers of Cecil and Harford Coun-
ties who have been retired on pension receive less than Six
Hundred Dollars ($600.00) per year, which amount is entirely
inadequate; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Cecil and Harford
Counties be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
pay to each teacher of said Counties who has been retired on
a pension and who receives less than Six Hundred Dollars
($600) per year, an additional amount sufficient to make the
total payments to said teacher equal Six Hundred Dollars
($600) and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy a
sufficient sum each year to pay the increased pensions author-
ized by this Act.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.
