expense. In the next County Budget and in all ensuing
Budgets, appropriation shall be made for the expenses of the
Sheriff's office, as prescribed by Section 37B(z) of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), and the same
shall be subject to the provisions of the County Budget Law.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.

CHAPTER 32

(Senate Bill 38)

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 235 of Article
77 of the Code of Public General Laws (1939 Ed. and 1947
Supplement), title "Public Education", sub-title "University
of Maryland", said new sub-section to be known as sub-
section (d) and to follow immediately after sub-section (c)
of said Section, authorizing and empowering the Board of
Regents of the University of Maryland to lease or otherwise
contract for the use of the wind tunnel at College Park.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new sub-section be added to Section 235 of Article
77 of the Code of Public General Laws (1939 Edition and
1947 Supplement), title "Public Education", sub-title "Univer-
sity of Maryland", to follow immediately after sub-section (e),
of the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take
sub-section (d), said new sub-section to read as follows:

235.

(d) The Board of Regents is authorized and empowered to
lease or otherwise contract for the use of the wind tunnel at
College Park to the Federal Government or any agency or
department thereof, or to any public or private corporation,
including the Glenn L. Martin Company, for the purpose of
testing air foils, model airplanes, guided missiles, projectiles,
or other objects or instruments, and to conduct any type of
research desired by the lessee or user

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses
of said section of said Article and sub-title, to be known as
effect from the date of its passage.
