highly desirous of having the property developed as a State
park; now therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 39A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition
and 1947 Supplement), title "Forestry", said new section to
be known as Section 74, to follow immediately after Section
73 of said Article, to be under sub-title "Gathland Park," and
to read as follows:
GATHLAND PARK
74. (a) The Department of State Forests and Parks is
hereby authorized and directed to purchase and develop for
public recreational use, Gathland State Park, in Frederick
and Washington Counties.
(b) The said Department of State Forests and Parks shall
purchase from the Frederick Chamber of Commerce, Inc., and
the Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc., for the sum
of $3,553., a tract of 101 acres, more or less, the George A.
Townsend property, known as GATH, recently acquired by
citizens of the State in these organizations for development
as a State Park.
(c) Further development of said Park by the State of
Maryland shall be for purposes of public education and
recreation, as funds are made available.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1948.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
165 of the Montgomery County Code (1947 Edition, being
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Montgomery County", sub-title "County Accountant
and Budget", relating to the compensation of the County
Accountant and Comptroller.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 165 of the Montgomery County Code (1947
Edition, being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws
