panies to participate in any loans furthered by the United
States Government or its agencies.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 67 of Article 11 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Banks and Trust Companies",
sub-title "Bank Commissioner'',, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as
follows:

67. Any bank or trust company, heretofore incorporated:
under any general or special law of this State, and any bank
or trust company. hereafter incorporated under this Article, is
authorized and empowered to participate in loans, which are
being furthered or sponsored by the United States Government,
or by any department, bureau, board, commission, establish-
ment, wholly owned corporation or other agency of the United
States, on the same basis and with the same safeguards and
restrictions as state member banks of the Federal Reserve
System and National Banking Associations.

SEC. 2. And "be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 99.
(House Bill 159)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 111
of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title "County
Treasurer", increasing the salary of the Deputy Treasurer
of Caroline County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted <by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 111 of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline County",
sub-title "County Treasurer", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

111. The Treasurer of Caroline County shall, upon taking
office, beginning with the year 1922 and every four years there*
after, appoint a Deputy Treasurer who shall hold office for a
term of four years, and the said deputy, so appointed, shall
