assist the Treasurer in the performance of all the duties of
said office under the direction and control of said Treasurer,
and said Treasurer for Caroline County shall be liable and
responsible for all the acts and conduct of said deputy in the
handling of any books, records or moneys of Caroline County
in said office, and the said Deputy Treasurer shall receive a
salary of one thousand dollars ($1. 000) per annum.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 100.
(Senate Bill 100)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Public Education",
sub-title "Chapter 19. Source and Distribution of Income",
said new section to be known as Section 197A and to follow
immediately after Section 197 of said Article, authorizing
the State Board of Education to accept appropriations made
by the Congress of the United States for educational pur-
poses.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Public Education77, sub-title "Chapter 19. Source and Distri-
bution of Income", said new section to be known as Section
197A, to follow immediately after Section 197 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

197A. The State Board of Education is hereby authorized
to accept for the State of Maryland any appropriation of money
for any educational purposes which may hereafter be made
out of the Federal Treasury by any Act or Acts of Congress
and the State Board of Education shall be constituted the
educational authority for the expenditure and administration
of any such funds.

All moneys received, by the State from appropriations for
educational purposes that may hereafter be made by any Act
or Acts of Congress shall be received into the State Treasury
and the Treasurer is hereby authorized, upon warrant of the
Comptroller, to receive and provide for the proper custody of
same and to make disbursements therefrom upon the order
of the State Board of Education according to the procedure
of the State Treasury Department.
