Hundred Dollars ($400.00) annually, payable monthly by the
County Commissioners of Charles County.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 685.
(House Bill 805)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 209
of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Grants-
vine", providing for maximum annual compensation for the
Mayor and Councilmen of said municipality.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 209 of Article 12 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett
County", sub-title "Grantsville", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

209. Said Councilmen shall hold regular meetings on the
first Monday of each and every month, and as much oftener
as the proper conduct of the business of said town may require,
and for their services they shall receive such compensation as
shall be from time to time fixed by ordinance, the same not
to exceed forty-eight dollars ($48.00) annually; said Council-
men to regulate by ordinance the compensation of the Mayor
for his services, the same not to exceed sixty dollars ($60.00)
in any one year.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date
of its passage.
