Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Almshouse", and to repeal Section 11 of
said Article and to enact in lieu thereof a new Section 11,
relating to the almshouse of Washington County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted 'by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 1, 3, 10, 15, 19 and 28 of Article 22 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County", sub-title "Almshouse", be and they are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and that
Section 11 of said Article be and it is hereby repealed and
a new Section 11 be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof,
and all to read as follows:

1. On or before the first Monday of March, in each and
every year, the County Commissioners of Washington County
shall appoint three discreet persons, inhabitants of said
county, to act as trustees of the poor in said county, for one
year and until their successors shall be appointed, and the
County Commissioners shall designate one trustee to act as
Chairman.

3. The trustees, so appointed, and notified of their appoint-
ment, upon acceptance of said appointment, shall meet within
ten days after the said appointment, at the almshouse of said
county, and severally qualify by taking the following oath:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will well and faith-
fully execute and perform the trust and duties reposed in me
as trustee of the poor of Washington County without favor,
partiality or affection, according to the best of my skill and
knowledge"; which oath may be administered by any Justice
of the Peace for said county.

10. They shall meet at the almhouse in the first week in
April and in the first week of every second month thereafter,
or oftener if necessary, and make and ordain, by a majority of
votes of such as may be present, all such rules and by-laws as
they shall think necessary for the support and government
of said almshouse; and in addition shall within two weeks
following each of said meetings submit to the County Com-
missioners a report of the almshouse property, personnel and
inmates.

11. The Chairman thereof shall visit the almshouse at least
once each month, or oftener, if necessary.

15. They may levy on the assessable property of the county
such sum as may be necessary to carry into effect the powers
vested in them.
