HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 807

Laws of Maryland and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edi-
tion), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Criers, Bailiffs, Watch-
men and Stenographers", be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

490. The City Register shall pay to the bailiffs respectively
of the Superior Court of Baltimore City, of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas of Baltimore City, of the Baltimore City Court, of
the Circuit Court of Baltimore City, of the Circuit Court No.
2 of Baltimore City and of the Criminal Court of Baltimore
City the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars per annum
and to the bailiff assigned to the Jury Judge three thousand
dollars per annum as and for their respective salaries at the
same time and in the same manner as is provided in the pre-
ceding section for the payment of the salaries of the crier of
the Superior Court, the crier of the Baltimore City Court and
the crier of the Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City.
Every bailiff, who after having served not less than twenty
preceding, consecutive years or shall have become physically
or mentally incapacitated from performing the duties of bailiff
from ailments or accidents not resulting from any own mis-
conduct, shall be entitled to retirement with a salary of f 1, 500
per annum, payable as other bailiffs' salaries are now paid,
provided that such retirement shall be evidenced by a satis-
factory certificate approved by the Supreme Bench of Balti-
more City, directed to the City Register, advising him of the
retirement of the said bailiff, and that said retirement is in
accord with the provisions of this section.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 6216.
(House Bill 688)

AN ACT to add a section to Article 4 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland and Charter of Baltimore City
(1938 Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Justices
of the Peace and Constables", said new section to be known
as Section 716, and to follow immediately after Section 715
of said Article, providing for an additional Associate Judge
of the People's Court of Baltimore City.
