walks shall fail or refuse to have such sidewalks regraded, re-
paved or repaired or to have the grass and weeds bordering said
sidewalks cut after ten days' written notice given by the Mayor,
Counselor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis, the said
Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis may
do said work as aforesaid and may assess the cost of all such
work or any part thereof against the abutting property and
may provide that the same may be and become a lien against
such property and may provide for the enforcement of said
lien by sale of the property or otherwise after such notice to
all persons having an interest in said property and in such
lawful manner as the said Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen
of the City of Annapolis, by ordinance may prescribe.
SEC. 2. And be it further* enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 174
of Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Harford County", sub-title "Circuit Court", as set
forth in Higinbothom's Code of the Laws of Harford
County, providing for the appointment of a Court Stenog-
rapher for Harford County, and fixing the compensation for
said Court Stenographer; and providing that the said
stenographer, without any additional compensation other
than provided in this sub-title, act as secretary to the Court
and as librarian for the Bar Library of Harford County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary
land, That Section 174 of Article 13 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Harford County", sub-title,
"Circuit Court", as set forth in Higinbothom's Code of the
Laws of Harford County, be, and it is hereby, repealed and
re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
174. The Circuit Court for Harford County is hereby author-
ized and directed to appoint a Court Stenographer, who shall be
a sworn officer of said Court, and said Stenographer so ap-
pointed shall receive a salary of Twenty-seven Hundred and
Fifty ($2, 750) Dollars per annum, to be paid in equal monthly
installments, as the jurors and bailiffs of said Court are now
