380A. The said Sheriff may employ a competent cook to
prepare meals for prisoners in said jail and to perform such
other duties as the said Sheriff may designate and the said,
sheriff shall be allowed a sum not exceeding ten ($10. 00)
dollars per week to pay the wages of said cook during such
time as said cook may be employed. The County Commis-
sioners may pay said sum upon receipt by them of a sworn
statement as provided in Section 380D.
380B. The said Sheriff shall receive an annual salary of
twenty-five hundred ($2500. 00) dollars, to be paid to him in
monthly installments by the County Commissioners. The said
Sheriff may appoint a deputy sheriff who shall hold office
or be removed at the pleasure of the Sheriff. Such deputy
sheriff shall receive an annual salary of fifteen hundred
($1500. 00) dollars to be paid to him in monthly installments
by the County Commissioners.
380C. The said Sheriff shall be reimbursed for the ex-
penses incurred by him in the use of his automobile by him
or by his deputy in the performance of the duties of his
office at the rate of five cents (5^) per mile. Said reim-
bursement shall be made after a sworn statement has been
submitted to the County Commissioners as provided in Sec-
tion 380D. In addition thereto the said Sheriff shall be
allowed and paid annually during his term, either when his
term commences or when the County Commissioners may
see fit, the sum of four hundred ($400) dollars toward the
purchase of an automobile to be used by the Sheriff and his
deputy for the general work of his office, which automobile
is to be maintained by the Sheriff without any cost to the
County other than the five cents (5^) per mile allowance
above referred to.
380D. The said Sheriff shall furnish monthly to the County
Commissioners statements sworn to by him which shall set
forth in detail all expenses incurred by his office, including
but not limited to, all sums spent for provisions, supplies,
mileage and telephone service, and upon receipt of said state-
ments the County Commissioners may pay to the said Sheriff
such sum or sums to which he may be entitled under the
foregoing sections.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1943.
