782. Of the police appointed pursuant to Section 780 of
this title, the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
in their discretion, are specifically authorized to designate
whenever the size of the Police Force of Montgomery County
shall warrant (a) four (4) as Captains, who shall be Station
Commanders, one (1) as Captain of Detectives of the Mont-
gomery County Police Force at salaries not to exceed Three
Thousand ($3, 000. 00) Dollars per annum, payable monthly, (b)
three (3) as Lieutenants of the Montgomery County Police
Force at salaries not to exceed Two Thousand Nine Hundred
($2, 900. 00) Dollars per annum, payable monthly, (e) four
(4) as Sergeants of the Montgomery County Police at salaries
not to exceed Two Thousand Seven Hundred ($2, 700. 00) Dol-
lars per annum, payable monthly, (d) eight (8) as Corporals
and five (5) as Detective Corporals of the Montgomery County
Police at salaries not to exceed Two Thousand Four Hundred
($2, 400. 00) Dollars per annum, payable monthly, (e) thirteen
(13) Patrolmen of the Montgomery County Police at salaries
not to exceed Two Thousand Two Hundred Eighty ($2, 280. 00)
Dollars per annum, payable monthly, and one (1) Patrolman
at a salary of Two Thousand Two Hundred Twenty ($2, 220. 00)
Dollars per annum, payable monthly, and six (6) Patrolmen
at salaries not to exceed Two Thousand One Hundred Sixty
($2, 160. 00) Dollars per annum, payable monthly, and the
remaining officers as Patrolmen at salaries not to exceed Two
Thousand One Hundred ($2, 100. 00) Dollars per annum, pay-
able monthly, all salary increases authorized by this Act shall
be effective as of January 1, 1943, and the County Commis-
sioners are further authorized to set up a fund equal to the
total amount of Three Hundred ($300. 00) Dollars for each
member of the police force, with the exception of the Chief
of Police, which fund, shall be used by the County Commis-
sioners for the purpose of defraying each member's expenses
for material and supplies for his motorcycle, automobile,
uniform and official equipment. The Chief of Police, and the
members of the Montgomery County Police shall receive in
addition to the amounts herein specified, no other fees or
compensation of any kind whatsoever. The County Com-
missioners are hereby authorized to increase the compensa-
tion of the members of said force designated as "Patrolmen"
up to but not exceeding the sum of Two Thousand Two
Hundred and Eighty ($2, 280. 00) Dollars per annum, said
increase to be granted as follows: Upon the completion of
each two years of service the compensation of said patrolmen
shall be. increased Sixty ($60. 00) Dollars per annum until
such time as the total annual compensation of a patrolman so
compensated shall not exceed Two Thousand Two Hundred and
Eighty ($2, 280. 00) Dollars per annum, provided that the in-
