SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 155 of
Article 75 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion), title "Pleadings, Practices and Process at Law", sub-
title "Process", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
155. If the defendant is returned "summoned", and the
defendant returned "summoned" shall fail to appear, the
court shall, on the second day of the term to which the
summons is returnable, enter the appearance of any de-
fendant so summoned and failing to appear, and the action
shall proceed in the same manner as if the party had ap-
peared in person. This section shall not apply to Balti-
more City.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1. 1943.

CHAPTER 262.
(Senate Bill 230)
AN ACT to repeal Section 962 of Article 4 of the Code, of
Public Local Laws and Baltimore City Charter (1938
Edition), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Telegraph to
House of Correction", requiring the City to maintain the
telegraph line from the House of Correction to the Police
Department, in Baltimore City.
Whereas, There is, at the present time, no telegraph line
from the House of Correction to Baltimore City; therefore
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 962 of Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws and Baltimore City Charter (1938 Edi-
tion), title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Telegraph to House
of Correction", be and it is hereby repealed.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1943.
