officers shall give such bond and security for the faithful per-
formance of all duties imposed upon them as police officers in
such sum as the Mayor and Councilmen may designate and
with such security as may be acceptable to the Mayor and
Councilmen; and the said bailiff and police officers may be
removed at any time by said Mayor and Councilmen for any
malfeasance, non-feasance or misfeasance of their respective
office. The qualifications for such police officers shall be such
as may be determined by said Mayor and Councilmen.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the terms of the
Councilmen elected in May, 1942 be and they are hereby ex-
tended to the first Tuesday in June, 1945 and until their suc-
cessors shall have qualified.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the im-
mediate preservation of the public health and safety, and, hav-
ing been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of
its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 411 and 412 of Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne
Arundel County, " sub-title "Roads, " relating to the com-
pensation, removal and control over the County Road
Engineer.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 411 and 412 of Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of (Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Roads, " be and
they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
41, 1. The County Commissioners shall appoint some
competent person as County Road Engineer of Anne
Arundel County, who shall hold office from the date of his
appointment until removed by said County Commissioners,
