WHEREAS, there are many positions in defense industries that
could be filled by such physically handicapped persons; there-
fore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That this
body respectfully requests the Hon. Paul V. McNutt, Chairman"
of the War Manpower Commission, to request defense indus-
tries operating under his direction, during the present emer-
gency to employ physically handicapped persons in all posi-
tions where they may be capable of performing the duties
thereof; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be, and he is hereby
requested to send a copy of this resolution under the great
seal of the State of Maryland to the Hon. Paul V. McNutt,
Chairman of the War Manpower Commission, at Washington,
D. C.

(House Joint Resolution 12)
A Joint Resolution requesting the State Roads Commission of
Maryland to name and designate the Philadelphia Road,
U. S. Route No. 40, as "Pulaski Highway. "
WHEREAS, Route No. 40, by virtue of a recent order of a
Federal Government Department, is now without any local
name of designation; and
WHEREAS, Brigadier-General Casimir Pulaski died from
wounds received in fighting for the independence of the United
States in the American Revolutionary War; and
WHEREAS, It would seem fitting that a permanent memorial
be established commemorating his great services to the people
of the United States in fighting for their independence; there-
fore, be. it *
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
State Roads Commission of Maryland be and it is requested to
name U. S. Route No. 40 as "Pulaski Highway" under its
powers as contained in Section 8 of Article 89B.
