1976 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, one of the greatest problems relating to agricul-
ture is the harvesting and preserving of the crops; and
WHEREAS, due to the great demand on manpower for work
in war industries as well as for service in the military forces
of the country, there is a great shortage of labor on farms; and
WHEREAS, there are a considerable number of conscientious
objectors who could be profitably employed in harvesting and
preserving the agricultural crops; therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Federal authorities be and they are hereby requested to make
whatever plans may be necessary for the employment of con-
scientious objectors in the harvesting and preserving of agri-
cultural crops where there is most necessity for such employ-
ment and under such rules and regulations as may be deemed
desirable; and be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be sent by the Secre-
tary of State, under the Great Seal of the State of Maryland, to
the President of the United States, to the Secretary of War, to
the Chairman of the War Manpower Commission, and to each
of the representatives in Congress from the State of Maryland.

A Joint Resolution requesting the Hon. Paul V. McNutt, Chair-
man of the War Manpower Commission to request the use
of physically handicapped workers in defense industries
during the present emergency.
WHEREAS, there is a dire need during the present emergency
for the employment of many men in industries who will not be
called for military duties, in order that those of military age
in defense industries may be released for active military duty;
and
WHEREAS, there are in the United States many thousands
of employable but physically handicapped men who are ready,
willing and anxious to serve this nation in its present emer-
gency to the best of their abilities; and
