HERBERT R. O'CONOR, GOVERNOR. 1971

WHEREAS, the bridge over the Chesapeake and Delaware
Canal, at Chesapeake City, was destroyed several months
ago; and

WHEREAS, Chesapeake City is divided by the said Chesa-
peake and Delaware Canal, so that it is most important that
the bridge be rebuilt at its former location; and

WHEREAS, if the bridge is located at some other site, on the
said canal, undue hardship will be imposed upon the residents
of Chesapeake City and the existence of said town seriously
threatened; therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Secretary of War be and he is hereby requested to have the
bridge rebuilt at, or approximately at, its former location; and
be it further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
directed to send, under the Great Seal of the State of Mary-
land, a copy of this Resolution to the President of the United
States, to the Secretary of War and to each of the Repre-
sentatives from Maryland in the United States Congress.

(House Joint Resolution 10)

A Joint Resolution that the members of the General Assembly
will donate blood to the Red Cross blood bank.

WHEREAS, this Nation is now engaged in a global war to pre-
serve our freedom, our institutions, our way of life, and all the
things we hold near and dear; and

WHEREAS, American sons and daughters are embattled on
the seven seas and the six continents of the world against the
Axis aggressors; and

WHEREAS, these men and women are spilling their life's
blood in our cause; and

WHEREAS, the Red Cross in cooperation with the medical
services of the armed forces has established blood banks for
the procurement and storage of blood so that it may be dis-
