1972 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

tributed to our fighting men and women in all parts of the
world as their needs require; and

WHEREAS, this blood has been of great value in decreasing
danger of serious battle casualties, and in restoring many of
the critically wounded to sound health and body; and

WHEREAS, the Bed Cross blood bank in Maryland has
sounded the call for more and more blood for distribution to
our armed forces; and

WHEREAS, we recognize this need of the Red Cross and are
anxious to cooperate in a body with them; therefore be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland., That on a
date to be set by the President of the Senate and the Speaker
of the House of Delegates the members of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland will make available to the Red Cross blood
bank, blood of the individual members under the supervision
of the Red Cross.

NO. 4.

(House Joint Resolution 1)

A Joint Resolution urging the development of the muskrat as
a source of meat supply.

WHEREAS, the present war has caused a serious shortage of
meat throughout the country, making necessary the fullest
possible use of all food supplies at this time; and

WHEREAS, Congressman James Domengeaux of Louisiana
and others have called attention to the muskrat as an excellent
source of meat; and

WHEREAS, the muskrat is free from disease and an unusually
clean animal, eating only vegetables which it carefully washes
before eating; and

WHEREAS, there is available a large supply of muskrats in
Maryland; and

WHEREAS, the muskrat lends itself to the recipes of southern
cooking for which Maryland has long been famous; now, there-
fore, be it
