ing upon a showing by its records or other sufficient evidence
that the licensee has committed an offense for which mandatory
revocation of license is required upon conviction.
(d) The Department, after due hearing, may suspend or re-
voke the operator's license, chauffeur's license or special chauf-
feur's license or the registration of any vehicle granted under
this Article for any cause which the Department may deem
sufficient; provided at least three (3) days notice, by registered
letter to the address given by the person when applying for his
license or registration certificate, shall be given; and further
provided that said person shall have the right of appeal as
provided for by Section 99.
(e) Upon suspending the license of any person as herein-
before in this section authorized the Department shall im-
mediately notify the licensee in writing and upon his request
shall afford him an opportunity for a hearing as early as prac-
tical not to exceed thirty (30) days after receipt of such
request in the City or County wherein the licensee resides
unless the Department and the licensee agree that such hear-
ing may be held in some other county or the City of Baltimore.
Upon such hearing the Commissioner or his duly authorized
agent may administer oaths and may issue subpoenas for the
attendance of witnesses and the production of relevant books,
papers and may require a re-examination of the licensee.
Upon such hearing the Department shall either rescind its or-
der of suspension or, good cause appearing therefor, may ex-
tend the suspension of such license or revoke such license.
96. PERIOD OF SUSPENSION OR REVOCATION. The Depart-
ment shall not suspend a license for a period of more than
one (1) year and upon revoking a license shall not in any
event grant application for a new license until the expiration
of three (3) months after such revocation.
97. SURRENDER AND RETURN OF LICENSE AND BADGE. The
Department upon suspending or revoking a license shall re-
quire that such license and the badge of any special chauffeur
whose license is suspended or revoked shall be surrendered to
and be retained by the Department except that at the end of
the period of suspension such license and any special chauf-
feur's badge so surrendered shall be returned to the licensee.
98. OPERATION UNDER FOREIGN LICENSE DURING SUSPEN-
SION OR REVOCATION IN THIS STATE. Any resident or non-
resident whose operator's or chauffeur's license or right or
privilege to operate a motor vehicle in this State has been
suspended or revoked as provided in this Article shall not
