furnished by the Department to the dealer, which said per-
mission shall bear the signature of the dealer and shall be dis-
played as registration cards are now required to be displayed
and provided further that before the dealer shall subscribe
and furnish such permission to such purchaser such dealer
shall have received from the purchaser the written application
for the titling and the registration of the said motor vehicle
with the prescribed fees therefor and shall forward the same
by mail or messenger to the Department, Dealer shall notify
Department immediately upon failure of purchaser to return
plates at the expiration of the ten (10) day period. Failure
by dealer to so notify Department will be considered as prima
facie evidence of the violation of this section.

(e) Registered dealers may permit the use of their dealer
registration plates, for a period not exceeding ten days from
the date of delivery, upon vehicles owned by them, but loaned
to prospective purchasers, for the purpose of demonstrating
said vehicles irrespective of the business in which the pur-
chaser may be engaged or the use to which said vehicle shall
be put during the demonstration period.

(d) Registered dealers may use their dealer registration
plates upon vehicles, owned by them, for the purpose of towing
other motor vehicles and for all other purposes incidental to
the dealers' business including the use of said registration
plates on substitute vehicles owned by a dealer but loaned to
an owner when the dealer is engaged in repairing said owner's
vehicle.

(e) Except when used by a purchaser, or otherwise in ac-
cordance with the provisions of this section, dealer registra-
tion plates shall not be used on any motor vehicle while en-
gaged in business of any kind or character except the business
of the manufacturer, distributor or dealer; nor in the business
of transportation for hire or livery business; nor shall the
same be used after such manufacturer, distributor or dealer
shall have been notified by the Department that such registra-
tion plates are forfeited because of violation of the provisions
of this section.

(f) New motor vehicles owned by and in the possession
of registered manufacturers, distributors or dealers shall be
exempt from the registration by manufacturer's number pre-
scribed by Section 21.

56. USE OF IN-TRANSIT REGISTRATION PLATES. A trans-
porter may use "in-transit registration plates" on new motor
vehicles when such registration plates are used only on new
unregistered motor vehicles while said vehicles are being
