CHAPTER 975.
(House Bill 442)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 1 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany
County", sub-title "Teachers Salaries", said new section to
be known as Section 620B, and to follow immediately after
Section 620A, as said section was enacted by Chapter 344
of the Acts of 1939, providing for the payment of an in-
crease in compensation to teachers, supervisors, principals
and attendance officers employed in the public school system
in Allegany County receiving annual salaries less than
|3, 000. 00; providing the portion of said increases to be paid
by the County Commissioners of Allegany County; and pro-
viding for an increase in wages for those engaged in custo-
dial and janitorial care of school buildings in Allegany
County, and directing the said County Commissioners to
appropriate and le^vy sufficient funds to pay the same.

WHEREAS, the present General Assembly has passed a
general law known as Senate Bill No. 147 to be known as
Chapter 739 of the Acts of 1943, under the terms of which
and under certain conditions every teacher (including super-
visors, principals and attendance officers) employed in the
public school system of Maryland shall receive in addition to
his regular salary a payment of f200. 00 from funds appro-
priated for that purpose in the budget; and

WHEREAS, the said general law makes no provision for the
continuation of said payments beyond May 1, 1944; and

WHEREAS, it is considered that all teachers (including super-
visors, principals and attendance officers) employed in the
public school system of Allegany County, Maryland, receiving
an annual salary of less than f 3, 000. 00 should receive in addi-
tion to his regular salary and the aforesaid sum of $200. 00, a
payment from the County Commissioners of Allegany County
of $100. 00 for the period from September 1, 1943 to July 31,
1944, and thereafter the sum of $300. 00 from September 1,
1944 to July 31, 1945, the latter payment to be payable either
wholly or in part by the County Commissioners of Allegany
County, as hereinafter provided, and that beginning Septem-
ber 1, 1945, said teachers shall receive a permanent salary in-
crease of $120. 00 per year, over that now provided by law;
now, therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land., That a new section be,, and it is hereby added to Article
