the supervision of the State Department of Public Welfare,
to take the place of Cheltenham School for Boys, which
institution shall then be converted into an institution ex-
clusively for defective colored juvenile delinquents, under
the supervision, direction and control of the Board ^ of
Mental Hygiene; (b) a separate institution or a division
of an existing institution, for defective white adults, under
the supervision, direction and control of the Board of Men-
tal Hygiene; (e) a separate institution, or a division of an
existing institution, midway between a training school and
an 'adult prison, for incorrigible offenders, both white and
colored, between the ages of 16 and 20, under the direct
supervision and control of the 'State Department of Cor-
rection.

SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1943.

CHAPTER 798.
(Senate Bill 370)

AN ACT to repeal and reenact with amendments Section
37 of Article 1-A of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title, "Cumberland", sub-title,
"Police and Fire", providing for the retirement on pen-
sion of members of the Police Department under certain
conditions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 37 of Article 1-A of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Cumberland", sub-title, "Police and Fire", be and it is
hereby repealed and reenacted with amendments to read as
follows:

Section 37. The members of the Police Department shall
be eligible for retirement on pension on arriving at the
age of sixty, but may on application each year be con-
tinued from year to year as members of the department
on approval of the Mayor and City Council until they reach
the age of sixty-five, at which age retirement becomes man-
datory. Provided, however, that the Chief of Police, the
