Section 153A, and to follow immediately after Section 153
of said Article, relating to the formation, operation and
financing of a non-profit ambulance and rescue company in
the First Election District of Anne Arundel County, and
repealing Sections 288 to 305, inclusive, of Article 27 of the
Code of Public General Laws in so far as they conflict here-
with.

WHEREAS, there is urgent need for the location within the
First Election District of Anne Arundel County, of ambu-
lances and life-saving and rescue equipment, due to the large
number of beaches located in said district, and

WHEREAS, there has been formed under the laws of the
State of Maryland a non-profit Corporation, for the purpose
of securing and operating such equipment through funds
raised by public subscription and by means of fairs, carnivals
and other benefit means, known as the "First District Ambu-
lance and Rescue Company"; and to aid the said Ambulance
and Rescue Company in raising said funds, therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County77, said new section
to be under a new sub-title "Ambulance and Rescue Com-
panies", said new section to be known as Section 153 A, and
to follow immediately after Section 153 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

153A. Within the First Election District of Anne Arundel
County, for the purposes of purchasing, maintaining, housing
and operating, ambulances, life-saving and rescue equipment,
it shall be lawful to conduct and operate under the auspices
of the "First District Ambulance and Rescue Company", fairs,
carnivals, games of skill, to dispose of merchandise and other
things of value by auction or voting, or by such means as are
commonly designated as paddle wheels, wheels of fortune,
bingo, or by other mechanical means and similar methods,
and with or without an entrance or participation charge or
fee; nothing herein contained, however, to be construed as to
permit or authorize the awarding of prizes to any participant
in such game or auction in money or tokens redeemable in
money or merchandise the value of which exceeds five dollars.
Provided that all of the net proceeds of the First District
Ambulance Company from such benefits shall be used for the
purposes of the said Company, and that no portion thereof
shall be paid to any officer or member of said Company for the
