is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

207. At the general election to be held on the first Tues-
day after the first Monday in the month of November in
the year nineteen hundred and forty-six (1946) and every
four years thereafter, there shall be elected three County
Commissioners for Anne Arundel County, one of whom
shall be nominated and elected as Chairman; said Com-
missioners shall meet at their office in the Court House
at Annapolis, for the transaction of the duties of their office
at least one day in each week, and on such other days as
the Chairman may deem necessary.

A person to be eligible to the office of County Commis-
sioners in Anne Arundel County shall have actually resided
in the county for at least ten years, and the Chairman shall
be a taxpayer upon real estate in said county, assessed for
at least $5, 000. and each of the other commissioners shall
be a taxpayer upon real estate in said county, assessed for
at least $2, 500. The Chairman shall give his full time to
the duties of his office and shall receive a salary of $4, 500.
per year and $500. for traveling and other expenses, and
each of the other two commissioners shall receive a salary
of $1, 800. per year and $400. for traveling and other ex-
penses, and said commissioners shall receive no other extra
compensation of any kind whatsoever.

The candidates for county commissioners shall be nom-
inated and elected in accordance with the general election
laws of the State.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
not become effective until it shall have been submitted, for
adoption or rejection, to the qualified voters of Anne Arun-
del County at the General Election in November, 1944.
There shall be printed on the ballots to be used at said
election the title of this Act and underneath said title on
separate lines, a square or box to the right of and opposite
the words "For Three County Commissioners, " and a cor-
responding square or box to the right of and opposite the
words "Against Three County Commissioners, " so that the
voters shall be able to designate by a cross mark in the
proper square or box his or her decision for or against
said question. If a majority of the votes cast on said
question shall be "For Three County Commissioners, " then
this Act shall thereupon become effective, but if a majority
of the votes cast thereon shall be "Against Three County
Commissioners, " then this Act shall become null arid void
and of no effect whatsoever.
