(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to make use of a dog
in hunting elk or deer and every person who takes a dog into
the woods or who has possession or control of a dog in the
woods and uses same for chasing, taking or killing an elk or
deer shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Any dog or dogs found
pursuing any deer or elk may be killed by any Deputy Game
Warden of this State or any other person.

(e) It shall be unlawful to set, lay or use any trap, snare,
net, deerlick, or pitfall, or to make use of any artificial light,
battery, or other contrivance or device for the purpose of
hunting or killing of elk or deer except as permitted by law,

(d) It shall be unlawful to remove the head or hide or any
part thereof from an elk or deer, or possess, or cut the meat
into parts or possess the same, or parts thereof until it has
been checked by a deputy game warden or a State Police. Any
deer or elk, or parts thereof, the sex of which cannot be
definitely determined shall be prima facie evidence that said
deer or elk is an illegal deer or elk. Each separate deer or elk,
part or parts thereof, taken illegally or found in possession
shall for the purpose of this Section be considered a separate
offense.

(e) Any person violating any of the provisions of this Sec-
tion shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic-
tion before any Justice of the Peace of this State shall be fined
not less than Fifty Dollars ($50. 00) nor more than One Hun-
dred Dollars ($100. 00) and costs for each and every offense.
Any person who fails to pay the fine so imposed shall stand
committed to jail until the fine and costs shall have been paid
but such imprisonment shall not exceed ninety days for any
one offense. Provided, however, any person killing an elk or
deer and not reporting the kill to the State Game Warden as
provided herein shall be deemed guilty of misdemeanor and
upon conviction before a Justice of the Peace of this State
shall be fined not less than Five Dollars ($5. 00) nor more than
Twenty-Five Dollars ($25. 00) for each and every offense.

TRAPPING PERMITS.

84. For the purpose of propagating game birds and game
animals and the restocking of the covers of this State, the
Game Warden is hereby authorized, when he deems it ad-
visable, to issue permits to any person to trap game on prop-
erty owned or acquired by the State of Maryland or controlled
by the Game and Inland Fish Commission, or on any property
where permission may be procured from private owners.
