CHAPTER 570.
(Senate Bill 471)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Board of Trustees of
the State Retirement System to pay a pension to Leonard
B. Popham.

WHEREAS, Leonard B. Popham, 167 King George Street,
Annapolis, worked as a watchman and messenger in the
State House from 1916 to 1935; and

WHEREAS, the said Leonard B. Popham is now more than
80 years old and has no adequate means of support; and

WHEREAS, the Retirement System of the State became ef-
fective soon after his retirement as an employee of the
State, so that he was unable to secure a pension; and

WHEREAS, in view of his long and faithful service, he
should be given a pension; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board of Trustees of the State Retire-
ment System be and it is hereby directed to pay a pension
to Leonard B. Popham, based on his years of service and
salary, to the same extent as if he were now being re-
tired; the said pension to be paid to him at the same time
and in the same manner as other pensions are paid under
Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

AN ACT to repeal Sections 290 to 292, inclusive, of Article
24 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1980
Edition), title "Worcester County", sub-title "Sheep".

WHEREAS, The provisions of these sections are no longer
in effect, having been superseded by general State Law;
therefore,
