sub-title "County Commissioners", sub-heading "Li-
brary" as said section was enacted by Chapter 759 of
the Laws of Maryland of 1939, and to repeal and re-enact,
with amendments, Section 382 of said Article, title
"Washington County", sub-title "Hagerstown", sub-head-
ing "Library", as said section was enacted by Chapter
759 of the Laws of Maryland of 1939, relating to the
amounts which may be appropriated by the County
Commissioners and by the Mayor and Council of Hagers-
town to the Washington County Free Library.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 165 of Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wash-
ington County", sub-title "County Commissioners, " sub-
heading "Library", as said section was enacted by Chapter
759 of the Laws of Maryland! of 1939, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments, and that Section
382 of said Article, title "Washington County", sub-title
"Hagerstown", sub-heading "Library", as said section was
enacted by Chapter 759 of the Laws of Maryland of 1989,
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, and all to read as follows:
165. The County Commissioners of Washington County
are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract
with the Washington County Free Library, whereby they
shall contract to contribute annually in perpetuity the sum
of sixty-five hundred dollars per annum for the care
and maintenance of the said, The Washington County
Free Library. In addition to the above amount, the said
Commissioners are hereby authorized in their discretion
to appropriate not exceeding one thousand dollars
annually for the care and maintenance of said Library.
382. The Mayor and Council of Hagerstown are hereby
authorized and directed, to enter into a contract with The
Washington County Free Library, whereby they shall con-
tract to contribute annually, in perpetuity, the sum of
$4, 500 per annum for the care and maintenance of the
said Washington County Free Library. In addition to
the above amount, the said Mayor and Council of Hagers-
town are hereby authorized, in their discretion, to appro-
priate not exceeding $500 annually for the care and
maintenance of said Library.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.
