and additions as necessity may require for fire protection
and domestic use; and to fix, charge and collect water rates
and water rents for the use of said water; and to make
said water rent charges a lien on the properties furnished
water, and to adopt and provide rules and regulations by
ordinances therefor.

124. The Mayor shall appoint, with the confirmation by
the Council, another standing committee, to be known as
"Water", with the Mayor as Chairman, and consisting in
addition thereto of one Councilman and one resident of
the town, not a member of the Council, but with like qual-
ifications and equal authority, who shall carry into effect
the provisions of this Act, subject to the approval, disap-
proval or action of the Mayor and Council of Chestertown.

125. The Mayor and Council shall select some person,
who may be one of the members of the standing commit-
tee on Water, or its Clerk to act as Treasurer of Water
Revenues, who shall monthly collect from the superinten-
dent all water rents and income and pay all bills of ex-
penses for the running and maintenance of said waterworks
on checks signed by him as such Treasurer and counter-
signed by the Mayor or in the absence of the Mayor by
the Acting Mayor and quarterly prepare and file with the
standing committee on Water and with the Mayor and Coun-
cil a full itemized account of receipts and disbursements, in-
cluding a full list of names of) all persons who have failed
to pay water rents. The Treasurer of Water Revenues
shall give bond in the penalty of) five thousand dollars for
the faithful performance of his duties, and all water rev-
enues shall be kept separate and apart from all other in-
come of the town.

126. The Superintendent shall collect all water rents
and revenues due from the use of water, and make monthly
payments thereof to the Treasurer of Water Revenues, and
shall file quarterly with the Treasurer of Water Revenues
and with the standing committee on Water an itemized
statement, showing all uncollected rents and revenues and
the names of the persons from whom they are due; and
the said superintendent shall give bond in the penalty of
two thousand dollars for the faithful performance of his
duties.

127. The Mayor and Council annually shall cause to be
made, at the same time and in the same manner as is set
forth in Section 120 of this Article, an audit of the income
and disbursements of all water revenues.
