Section 64-A. Severability of Provisions. If any pro-
vision of this Act, or the applicability thereof to any per-
son or circumstances, is held invalid, the remainder of this
Act and the applicability thereof and of such provisions
to other persons or circumstances shall not be affected
thereby.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 541.
(Senate Bill 429)

AN ACT to add seven new sections to Article 15 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Kent County", sub-title "Chestertown", as the
. same was repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 101 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1933, said
new sections to be under the sub-head "Water Board", to
be designated Sections 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128 and
129, to follow immediately after Section 122P and pro-
viding for the water works of Chestertown to be con-
trolled and operated by the Mayor and Council of Ches-
tertown in lieu of by a separate water Board.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
-Maryland, That Seven new sections be and they are hereby
added to Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County", sub-title
"Chestertown" as the same was repealed and re-enacted by
Chapter 101 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1933 said new sections to be under the sub-head
"Water Board", to be designated Sections 123, 124, 125,
126, 127, 128 and 129, to follow immediately after Section
122P, and to read as follows:

123. The Mayor and Council of Chestertown shall have
charge of the waterworks in Chestertown and shall operate
the same, with authority to employ and pay such superin-
tendent, engineers, workmen, laborers and employees as
may be necessary to carry on and maintain the same and
supply said town and the inhabitants thereof with water
and shall have authority to purchase materials and sup-
plies necessary to operate the same, and to make repairs
