title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Department of
Correction", the said new sections to follow immediately
after Section 761 of said Article, to be known as Sections
761A, 761B, 761C, 761D, 761E and 761F, providing for the
establishment by the Board of Correction of a prison or re-
formatory to be known as the Women's Prison of the State
of Maryland and for the management, control and main-
tenance of said institution.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That six new sections be and the same are hereby added
to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
sub-title "Department of Correction", the said new sections to
be placed immediately after Section 761, to be known as Sec-
tions 761A, 761B, 761C, 761D, 761E and 761F, and to read as
follows:

761A. The Board of Correction is hereby authorized, em-
powered and directed to establish and maintain in Anne
Arundel Comity on land belonging to the State of Maryland
and constituting a portion of the farm on which the Maryland
House of Correction is situated, a prison or reformatory of the
State to be known as the Women's Prison of the State of Mary-
land. The said institution is hereby declared to be a public
agency of the State of Maryland for the detention, care and re-
formation of such female offenders as may be committed or
transferred to its care under the laws of this State.

761B. The said Board of Correction shall employ a Super-
intendent who shall be a woman and shall fix her salary; and
in addition to such salary the said Board may allow sub-
sistence, fuel and a dwelling, but the said Superintendent shall
receive no other compensation or perquisite. The said Super-
intendent shall employ, with the approval of the Board who
shall fix their compensations, such employees as to the said
Board seem necessary for the proper management of the said
Institution. The said Superintendent and all persons em-
ployed by her shall perform their employment only during the
pleasure of said Board, and shall as employees have such duties
and authority as may from time to time be imposed or con-
ferred upon them, or any of them, by said Board.

761C. The provisions of this Article with reference to pen-
sions of employees of the Maryland House of Correction and
the Maryland Penitentiary shall be equally applicable to the
employees of the Women's Prison.

761D. The Women's Prison of the State of Maryland shall
be under the supervision, control and management of the
