CHAPTER 406.
(House Bill 322)

AN ACT to amend Section 317 of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland as said section was amended
by Chapter 298 of the Acts of 1937 of the General Assembly
of Maryland, and to provide for an additional Deputy Clerk
at the County Service Building at Hyattsville.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 317 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, as amended by Chapter 298 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1937, be and the
. same is hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:

317. They may annually appoint a Deputy Clerk to assist
the Clerk to the County Commissioners, who before entering
upon the duties of his office shall take oath and give bond in
lite penally of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00), and in the
same manner and form as now required by law of the Clerk to
aicl County Commissioners; and the surety on said bond shall
be some surety company authorized to do business in the State
of Maryland, and the premium on said bond shall be paid by
the County Commissioners of Prince George's County; which
Deputy Clerk in the absence of the Clerk shall act in his place
and stead, and be vested with his authority, and the Deputy
Clerk shall receive a salary of not more than Twelve Hundred
Dollars ($1, 200. 00) per annum; but nothing in this Act shall
prevent the appointment of the same individual as County
Road Clerk at the salary now fixed by law for said Road Clerk
. and the total salary so received as the Deputy Clerk to the
County Commissioners and as Clerk to said Road Board shall
not exceed Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 800. 00) per annum,
and said County Commissioners shall appoint a Deputy Clerk
who shall be assigned to the County Service Building at
Hyattsville, Maryland, at a salary of Eighteen Hundred Dol-
lars ($1, 800. 00) per annum, and shall give bond in the sum of
Ten Thousand Dollars ($10, 000. 00) in the same manner and
form as now required by law of the Clerk to said County
Commissioners, a premium on said bond to be paid by said
County Commissioners. The said Deputy Clerk shall in addi-
tion to such duties as may be assigned him by the said County
Commissioners may also with the consent of the Clerk of the
Court and the Treasurer of Prince George's County act as a
Deputy Clerk of the Court of Deputy Treasurer under such
conditions as may be required by either of the above officers
may perform such duties, as may be assigned or delegated to
him, by either of said officers and shall give such bond as may
