cover a period of not more than sixteen (16) days. Composite
samples to which an appropriate preservative has been added
shall be made up of aliquot parts taken from each of the
several lots of milk and/or cream purchased or received from
each producer, and composite samples of the milk and/or
cream of all producers shall cover the same period of time,
unless permission is granted in writing by the said University
for samples of milk and/or cream to cover different periods
of time. The rack or container where composite samples are
held shall be plainly labeled to show the date of the first
and the last day of the period covered by such composite
samples. All composite samples shall be tested within three
(3) days following the close of the period covered by such
samples. Such samples must be tested on the premises where
they are taken, unless permission in writing is granted by the
said University to test said samples in another designated
laboratory. After all composite samples have been tested,
their residue shall be held on the premises where they were
tested, intact, available, properly refrigerated and in a con-
dition suitable for check test for a further period of not less
than seven (7) days. Composite samples shall be of such
size that the residue for check tests shall be sufficient to make
duplicate Babcock tests. Every person required by Section
509 of this sub-title to have a permit shall, within two (2)
days after the day on which any test herein provided for shall
have been made, furnish to the producers "of such milk and/or
cream so tested a written or printed statement of the result
thereof, showing the period of time during which said com-
posite samples were taken.

515. Any person desiring to obtain a license to weigh or
sample milk, or a license to test and sample milk or cream,
shall make application to the University of Maryland there-
for, and shall pay to the said University an application fee
of One Dollar ($1. 00) for a license to weigh and sample milk,
or a fee of One Dollar and Fifty Cents ($1. 50) for a license
to test and sample milk or cream. Such applicant shall take
an appropriate examination, to be conducted by the said Uni-
versity. If such applicant shall satisfactorily pass such ex-
amination and satisfy the said University as to his good
character, he shall be entitled to receive from the said Univer-
sity the kind of license for which he so qualified, upon the pay-
ment of the further sum of Two Dollars ($2. 00) if it be a
license to weigh and sample, or Three Dollars ($3. 00) if it
be a license to test and sample. All such licenses shall be
good for the calendar year of issue unless and until sooner
revoked or suspended by said University, and shall be renew-
able annually upon application without examination upon the
payment of a renewal fee of Two Dollars ($2. 00) for a license
