of Somerset County w*10 shall continue to receive the
compensation now provided by law.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 394.
(Senate Bill 536)
AN ACT to authorize and direct the State Roads Com-
mission of Maryland to pay Mattie Barth, a resident of
Cambridge, in Dorchester County, Maryland, the sum of
Five Hundred and Ten Dollars and Five Cents ($510. 05)
as reimbursement for hospital expenses incurred by her.
WHEREAS, on the 8th day of January, 1940, Mattie Barth
sustained severe and painful injuries as a result of having
slipped on the icy approach to the Cambridge Creek Bridge,
said approach being unsafe for travel at that time; and
WHEREAS, the said approach to the Cambridge Creek
Bridge near Cambridge, Dorchester County, Maryland is
a part of the State's public road system and as such is,
and at the time of the aforesaid accident was, under the
supervision and control of the State Roads Commission of
Maryland, and
WHEREAS, the slippery condition of said approach was
undoubtedly due to the negligence of said State Roads Com-
mission in failing to sprinkle ashes or sand on said ap-
proach; and
WHEREAS, the said Mattie Barth has never been com-
pensated or reimbursed for the hospital expenses incurred
by her as the result of her injuries, which amounted to
Five Hundred and Ten Dollars and Five Cents ($510. 05),
therefore;
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the State Roads Commission of Maryland
be and it is hereby authorized and directed to pay to Mattie
Barth, as compensation for hospital expenses, the sum of
Five Hundred and Ten Dollars and Five Cents ($510. 05).
