take effect June 1, 1941.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tions 174 and 175 of Article 1 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Allegany
County", sub-title "Fire Companies", as said sections
were amended by Chapter 59 of the Acts of 1939, re-
lating to appropriations to volunteer fire companies in
Allegany County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 174 and 175 of Article 1 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Allegany County", sub-title "Fire Companies", as
said sections were amended by Chapter 59 of the Acts of
1939, be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
174. The County Commissioners of Allegany County
are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay
the sum of $6, 975. 00 annually to the several volun-
teer fire companies so long as said fire companies remain
incorporated bodies, for their benefit, said sum of money
to be used by the respective fire companies for the pur-
chase, repair or maintenance of fire fighting equipment or
for the repair, maintenance or upkeep of buildings used
by the respective fire companies.
175. Said payment shall be made on the first day of
September in each and every year by the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County, and it shall be distributed as
follows: To the Chapel Hill Hose Company No. 6 and the
Cumberland Hose Company No. 1, of Cumberland, Mary-
land, the sum of $150. 00 each; to the Frostburg Fire De-
partment of Frostburg, Maryland, the sum of $1, 000. 00;
to the Good Will Fire Company of Lonaconing, Maryland,
the sum of $800. 00; to the Potomac Fire Company No. 2
of Westernport, Maryland, the sum of $675. 00; to the
Midland Fire Department of Midland, Maryland, the sum
of $500. 00; to the Mount Savage Fire Department of
