SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 1 of Article 19 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Comptroller", be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments so
as to read as follows:

1. The comptroller shall file his bond and qualify, by mak-
ing the declaration and taking the oath required by the consti-
tution and laws of this State, before the governor, on the third
Monday of January next ensuing his election, or as soon there-
after as practicable; and from and after the third Monday of
January, 1943, the said comptroller shall receive a salary of
Eight Thousand Dollars ($8, 000. 00) per annum, payable
monthly.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 376.
(House Bill 455)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 11 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Fred-
erick County", sub-title "Frederick", sub-heading "Assess-
ment and Taxation", said section to be known as Section
224A and to follow immediately after Section 224 of said
Article, providing that certain kinds of agricultural and
grazing land, buildings and personal property used in con-
nection therewith in Frederick shall be exempt from taxa-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Frederick County", sub-title "Frederick", sub-
heading "Assessment and Taxation", said section to be known
as Section 224A, to follow immediately after Section 224 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

224A. All unimproved agricultural and grazing land, barns,
stables and other improvements erected thereon, farming
implements and live stock, used exclusively for agricultural
and grazing purposes situated within the corporate limits of
Frederick shall be exempt from assessment and taxation ex-
