81F. If any section or provision of this sub-title is held to
be invalid such invalidity shall not affect the validity or
applicability of the other sections or provisions thereof.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 328.
(House Bill 238)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 750, 750A, 750B, 751 and 752 of
Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Baltimore County", sub-title "State's
Attorney", and to enact in lieu thereof five new sections to be
known as Sections 750, 750A, 750B, 751 and 752, providing
for clerical assistance for the State's Attorney of Baltimore
County and authorizing the State's Attorney to appoint a
Deputy and an Assistant State's Attorney, fixing the com-
pensation of said Deputy and Assistant and authorizing the
State's Attorney to compile statistics in criminal cases and
providing for the cost thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 750, 750A, 750B, 751 and 752 of Article 3
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Baltimore County", sub-title "State's Attorney", be and
the same are hereby repealed and that five new sections be
and they are hereby enacted in lieu thereof, said sections to be
known as Sections 750, 750A, 750B, 751 and 752, to follow
immediately after Section 749 and to read as follows:

750. The State's Attorney for Baltimore County is hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint such clerical assistance
as in his judgment may be necessary for the proper conduct
of his office, at such compensation as he may deem proper, not
in excess of Two Hundred Dollars per month, to be paid by
the County Commissioners of Baltimore County on the certifi-
cation of the State's Attorney, such clerical assistance as may
be appointed by the State's Attorney hereunder to perform
such clerical and other work as he may direct.

750A. The State's Attorney for Baltimore County is hereby
authorized and empowered to appoint a Deputy State's At-
torney at a compensation not exceeding Twenty-Four Hundred
