SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion), title "Montgomery County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners and Treasurer", to be under sub-heading "County Pur-
chasing Agent", said new section to be known as Section 190A
to follow immediately after Section 190 of said Article, and to
read as follows:
COUNTY PURCHASING AGENT.
190A. The Board of County Commissioners of Montgomery
County is hereby authorized and empowered to appoint a
County Purchasing Agent, who shall serve subject to the will
of said Board, and who shall discharge the duties of his office
under the general supervision of said Board, and the said
Board is hereby further authorized and empowered, in its
discretion, to combine the duties of the office of County Pur-
chasing Agent with those of the Supervisor of School Prop-
erty of Montgomery County as the latter are now provided
by law. The County Purchasing Agent shall have supervision
of and make all purchases for and on behalf of Montgomery
County, except for the Liquor Control Board of said County,
when authorized by the Board of County Commissioners so
to do, of all supplies, equipment, accessories, furniture, fix-
tures, materials or apparatus of whatever kind or description,
that the County or any department thereof may require, when
such purchases do not exceed the sum of five hundred dollars
(1500. 00).
It shall be the duty of the County Purchasing Agent to
keep and maintain accurate records of all requisitions by the
County or any and all departments thereof of the supplies,
equipment, accessories, furniture, fixtures, materials or ap-
paratus requested by them, and purchased for and on their
behalf. The County Purchasing Agent shall have no pecuniary
interest in any contract entered into by him or by the Board
of County Commissioners for and in behalf of Montgomery
County.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.
