2032 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
Resolved, That the said Commission shall have the right
and power to call upon the Conservation Commission, the
State Roads Commission, and other departments of the
State government to aid in making said investigation and
survey, including the right to use the vessels of the Con-
servation Commission when necessary, and be it further
Resolved, That the said Commission shall have the
right to employ, with the approval of the Governor, such
person or persons as it may deem necessary to carry on
such survey, the compensation of such person or persons
and the expenses of the Commission to be paid out of any
funds which may be contained in the State Budget and
made available for this purpose by the Governor and the
Board of Public Works.

(Senate Joint Resolution 14)
A Joint Resolution requesting the Maryland State Depart-
ment of Health, the Virginia State Department of Health,
the Health Authorities of Alexandria, Virginia, and the
Inter-State Commission on the Potomac River Basin
to investigate and take steps to abate pollution of the
Potomac River, being caused by sewage entering said
River from Alexandria, Virginia, and other points.
WHEREAS, Many residents of Southern Maryland have
complained that the waters of the Potomac River flowing
past their properties are polluted 'by sewage from Alex-
andria, Virginia, and other points above their properties,
and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland believes
that this matter should be investigated, and that the un-
wholesome conditions alleged to exist as a result of it
abated; therefore, be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Maryland State Department of Health, the Virginia State
Department of Health, the Health Authorities of Alexan-
dria, Virginia, and of any other towns or municipalities
involved, and the Inter-State Commission on the Potomac
River Basin, be and they are hereby requested to initiate
