2030 JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS,, due to the great congestion of traffic on the Han-
over Street Bridge and through the downtown area of Balti-
more, there is great need for a more direct route with less con-
gestion and with greater opportunities for expediting north
and south bound traffic; and
WHEREAS,, the construction of a tunnel under or a bridge
over the Patapsco River, at Baltimore City, would be of great
value in the defense program of the country; and
WHEREAS, since such a tunnel or bridge would primarily be
for the benefit of traffic originating in the northeastern and
southeastern section of the United States; and
WHEREAS, for this reason and for defense purposes, the cost
of such construction should properly be paid by the Federal
Government; therefore be it
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Congress of the United States be and it is hereby requested to
make provision for the construction of a tunnel under or a
bridge over the Patapsco River, at Baltimore City, in order to
provide greater facilities for north and south bound traffic, as
a part of the National Defense Program; and be it further
Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
requested to send a copy of this resolution, under the great
seal of the State of Maryland, to the President of the United
States, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House
of Representatives and to each of the representatives from
Maryland in the United States Congress.

Joint Resolution requesting the United States Congress and
the Department of the Interior of the United States to con-
vey certain federally-owned land in the City of Cumberland
to the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Interior
has acquired title to all the lands formerly owned by the
Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Company within the State of Mary-
land; and
WHEREAS, a part of this land is located within the limits
of the City of Cumberland, Maryland; and
