or hereafter due and collectable and complete his collections
within twelve months from the date of their levy. All
moneys now or hereafter payable to the Burgess and Com-
missioners of Burkittsville shall be paid to said Clerk, who
shall deposit the same in some bank to be approved by
the Board, in the name of the Burgess and Commissioners
of Burkittsville, to be withdrawn only upon checks signed
by the Clerk and countersigned by the Burgess. The Clerk
shall give bond in the sum of One Thousand Dollars sub-
ject to the approval of the Board and conditioned that if
he shall faithfully execute the duties of his office and
account for and pay over to the Burgess and Commission-
ers of Burkittsville the several sums of money which he
shall receive or be answerable for by law then said obli-
gation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force
and virtue in law. The Clerk shall have the custody of all
ordinances passed by the Board, of the records of the Cor-
poration and the corporate seal, which he shall deliver
to his successor in office at the conclusion of his term. He
shall perform such other duties as may be required of him
from time to time by the Board.

61. The Burgess shall annually at the first meeting of
the Board of Commissioners in June, appoint, subject to
conformation by a majority vote of the Board, a Bailiff
for said town, who shall have power to preserve peace,
order and quiet in said town and who shall report any
violations of the laws and ordinances to the Burgess. He
shall have the power to arrest all persons charged with
violating any laws or ordinances, to take them before the
nearest Trial Magistrate for trial, and upon conviction to
the jail of Frederick County, and for that purpose he shall
have all the powers of a Constable in Frederick County.
He shall perform such other duties as may be required of
him by the Board and may be discharged at any time by the
Board. He shall give bond, subject to the approval of the
Board, in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars, for the faith-
ful performance of his duties.

62. In addition to the Clerk and Bailiff, the Burgess
and Commissioners of Burkittsville shall have power from
time to time, to appoint or employ such other persons as
it shall think proper for the good government of the town.
All appointments of officers shall be made by the Burgess
and approved by a majority vote of the Board. All officers
appointed or elected including the Burgess and Commis-
sioners shall hold their respective offices until their succes-
sors are appointed or elected and qualified and shall be
paid such compensation as shall be fixed by the Board.
