ROADSIDE CONTROL.

897C. (a) Except as provided in sub-section (b), no person
shall maintain or erect any billboard, sign or advertising dis-
play of any kind within three hundred (300) feet from the
nearer margin of the right-of-way (1) of Central Avenue be-
tween the District of Columbia boundary and the Patuxent
River, (2) of Largo Road between its intersections with the
Defense Highway and the Grain Highway, (3) The Crain High-
way between the corporate limits of the Town of Upper Marl-
boro and the intersection of said highway with the Croome
Road, and (4) The Fort Foote Road from its intersection with
Livingston Road to its intersection with what is known as the
Old Fox Ferry Road, and (5) of the Crain Highway between
Wells Corner and its intersection with the Defense Highway
near Priest Bridge, and (6) of the Wells Corner-Hill's Bridge
Highway between Wells Corner and Hill's Bridge, in Prince
George's County.

(b) Any person operating a bona fide place of business
along said roads or offering any premises along said roads
for sale or rent may erect and maintain not more than two
signs (1) with an aggregate advertising area of not more than
thirty (30) square feet; and (2) located within fifty (50) feet
of such place of business or upon such premises, and (3) ad-
vertising such premises as for sale or rent or the business con-
ducted or services furnished at such place of business.

(c) The State Roads Commission shall not issue any per-
mit for a billboard, sign or advertising display prohibited by
this section.

(d) Any person violating any provision of this section shall,
upon conviction, be fined not more than two hundred dollars
($200. 00), and each day the violation continues shall be a
separate offense. Appropriate proceedings may also be brought
to remove or abate illegal signs or advertising. "Persons"
includes an individual, partnership, association or corporation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.
