503-A1. (a) The Sheriff of Dorchester County is
hereby authorized and directed to appoint some person,
subject to the approval of the County Commissioners for
Dorchester County, to act as Matron for the prisoners
confined in the County Jail for Dorchester County, at a
salary of Fifty Dollars ($50. 00) per month, to be paid to
said matron upon duly approved vouchers each and every
month during the term of her office.
(b) The Sheriff is hereby authorized and directed to
appoint some person, subject to the approval of the County
Commissioners for Dorchester County, to act as cook for
the prisoners confined in the County jail for Dorchester
County at a salary not to exceed twelve dollars and fifty
cents ($12. 50) per week, to be paid to said cook by the
County Commissioners for Dorchester County upon duly
approved vouchers.
(c) The Sheriff shall be allowed the sum of five cents
($. 05) per mile for necessary transportation of any per-
son or persons to any institution in the State of Maryland
where said person shall be committed or confined by order
of the County Commissioners for Dorchester County, or
order of any Court of competent jurisdiction.
The Sheriff shall further be allowed his actual expenses
in mileage at the rate above set forth, and food and lodging
for any trip outside of Dorchester County which he shall
be required by any Court of competent jurisdiction, or the
County Commissioners for Dorchester County, to make.
The above payments shall be in addition to salary and
other compensations now provided by law.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all Acts, or
parts of Acts, inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.
