162B. (a) The Board of County Commissioners may,
subject to the qualifications herein set forth, spend not
more than Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35, 000) annu-
ally for the following purposes:
(1) to aid and assist any factory in Washington
County engaged in the production of goods essential to the
defense of the State or nation; or
(2) to prevent any factory now located in Washington
County from moving elsewhere because of inducements
offered by any other State, county, or municipality; or
(3) to aid and assist any factory to become estab-
lished in Washington County.
(b) All money spent pursuant to this Section shall be
spent only on property which is either owned in fee by the
County, or leased by the County for a term of at least
fifteen (15) years.
(c) The Board of County Commissioners is directed
to provide in each annual levy an amount equal to the sum
to be spent in each year pursuant to this Section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1941.

CHAPTER 886.
(Senate Bill 522)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 10 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Dorchester County", sub-title "Sheriff", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 503-A1 and to follow imme-
diately after Section 503A of said Article as enacted by
Chapter 777 of the Acts of 1939, authorizing the Sheriff
of Dorchester County to appoint certain employees and
relating to certain expenses of the Sheriff.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Dorchester County", sub-title "Sher-
iff", said new section to be known as Section 502-A1 and
to follow immediately after Section 503-A of said Article
as enacted by Chapter 777 of the Acts of 1939 and to read
as follows:
