male Seminary", said new section to be known as Section
235A, to follow immediately after Section 235 of said
Article, and to read as follows:
235A. (a) The St. Mary's Female Seminary, St.
Mary's City in St. Mary's County, shall be under the con-
trol, supervision and management of a Board of Trustees
to be appointed by the Governor. The said Board of Trus-
tees shall consist of twelve (12) members, and of those
first appointed four shall be appointed for a term of two
(2) years, four for a term of four (4) years, and four
for term of six (6) years, and their successors shall be
appointed for a term of six (6) years. At least six (6) of
the members first appointed shall be selected from the
present Board of Trustees of the St. Mary's Female Sem-
inary. In case of a vacancy from death, resignation or
otherwise, the Governor shall appoint a person to fill the
unexpired term of the member causing said vacancy.
(b) The members of said Board shall serve without
compensation but shall be reimbursed for their necessary
expenses in attending meetings of said Board and in per-
forming any of the duties connected with the management
of said institution.
(e) The said Board of Trustees shall have the power to
make such rules and regulations not inconsistent with law
as it shall deem necessary for the government and man-
agement of said institution and shall have and exercise all
the powers enjoyed, possessed and exercised by the Board
of Trustees now having the management and control of
said institution.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That, on the appoint-
ment and qualification of the members of the said
Board of Trustees authorized to be appointed under the
provisions of this Act, the present Board of Trustees
of the St. Mary's Female Seminary shall be abolished and
shall thereafter cease to exercise any of the powers and
functions as members of the Board of Trustees of said
institution.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or
parts of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such
inconsistency.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1st, 1941.
